Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson – the actor who plays the role of Gregor Clegane in Game of Thrones holds the title of ‘World’s Strongest Man’. He proved that he isn’t only the Mountain in the TV series but also in real life. His KFC commercial, where he dragged 700 pounds of Double Crispy Colonel Sandwiches was another nod to this fact. Recently he proved to be of great help to the scientist in studying the effects of gravity on humans. Read on.
Back in 2015, while the Mountain made a record by five steps with a 650 Kg logs on his back, the scientists marked this as the limit to the gravitational pull any human could ever hope to endure.
According to the Business Insider, a small team of physicists from the University of Zagreb, Croatia concluded that it’s impossible to set your sight on other planets with a mass greater than four times that of Earth’s. They used different factors like compressibility of human bones, the flexion of our muscles, and the swinging nature of our legs to finally arrive at this conclusion.
This is because the bones of the human body are capable only to withstand 90 times Earth’s normal gravity before collapsing. Also, it depends upon the fact that the bigger a planet is, the more is the gravitational pull it exerts. And, Björnsson’s record did establish a good benchmark for what an average human can achieve. Pretty impressive, isn’t it?
