Game of Thrones debuted its longest and biggest episode this Sunday. Season 8 episode 3, titled “The Long Night” was easily the most important episode of the show ever. It was also one of the most anticipated episodes in the show’s history, and the viewership figures for the episode have proven exactly that, by breaking all previous records for Game of Thrones. Read on!
After a long wait of nearly two years, it was expected that Game of Thrones would have a viewership spike. The season premiere had debuted to a viewership of 17.4 million. The viewership dropped with the second episode, down to 15.9 million. However, with episode 3, “The Long Night”, the show has hit a record viewership at 17.8 million viewers.
The figure breaks down with 12.02 million viewers for the live TV premiere, and the rest coming from HBO Now and HBO Go viewers. The record was previously held by the Season 8 premiere, with 11.8 million viewers for live TV. While “The Long Night” breaks the overall record, it still trailed behind the Season 7 finale in terms of live TV-only viewership.
Now, there is the issue where this episode became the second lowest rated Game of Thrones episode of all time. However, despite that, the show will maintain and probably beat its viewership figures as it goes into the final three episodes, as the fans close in on it for some closure.

The political drama in the US Presidential election was no less than the hustle for the Iron Throne on the Game of Thrones. The twists and turns were similar to the epic fantasy, that ended with Joe Biden’s victory. Biden gave his first speech as the new US President on the night of 7th of November. The speech was very well received by the general public.
Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin welcomed Biden’s win through his blog Not a Blog. He lauded the new President’s speech with heaps of praises. He wrote:
“Joe Biden gave a marvellous speech tonight: eloquent, uplifting, stirring, a speech that spoke to all that is best in America, to our hopes and dreams rather than our fears. Time will tell what kind of president he will be, but everything about the campaign he waged confirms the fact that this is a good, decent, and intelligent man.
It brought to my mind the classic Democratic hymn that was FDR’s campaign song, and later used by JFK, LBJ, and many others.”
Game of Thrones cast has often expressed their dislike for the former US President Donald Trump. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) even raised a toast to Biden’s victory, mocking Trump at the same time.

Game of Thrones saw many ups and downs in the lives of its characters. For some characters, like Jaime Lannister and Theon Greyjoy, the series was a path to redemption. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who played Jaime, was satisfied with his character’s arc. So was Alfie Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy.
Theon went through a series of hardships to redeem his sense of pride and honour. He went from a sex-obsessed and self-indulged sidekick to a hero who sacrificed his life protecting Bran. Alfie, however, has landed another sex-obsessed role in BBC’s Harlots.
Allen plays Isaac Pincher in the 3rd season of the 18th century period drama. Isaac Pincher is a sex obsessed pimp in Georgian London. He is enthusiastic about sex work both as a businessman and client.
Alfie’s entrance was a pleasant surprise for Harlot viewers who are also Game of Thrones fans. It would be worthwhile to see what he does with his new role. Whether he goes through some kind of redemption or gets his genitals chopped off (again). We can be sure of one thing though, Alfie Allen’s fabulous performance!

The year 2020 has proved to be the Longest Night humanity has ever faced. Even though the skies seem stark red as the Red Wedding (pun intended), some people have managed to thrive in the current crisis. Just as the assassins of the Ubisoft game Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
Filled with battle scenes as brutal as the Battle of Bastards and the Battle of Winterfell, Assassin’s Creed is one of the most anticipated games of the year. The game is set in the period when Vikings were still around, conquering parts of the world. Nonetheless, Ubisoft has chosen a worthy ambassador for their upcoming game, someone who has the looks of a Viking. No man better suits the criteria than Game of Thrones’ Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.
Once dubbed the World’s strongest man, Björnsson was definitely the strongest man on Game of Thrones as the Mountain. The Mountain was the most feared warrior on the show, who could crush skulls with bare hands. His stature alone proves how strong he is in real life. (Also check out how the strongest man welcomed his newborn baby!)
Assassin’s Creed games have been around for nearly two decades now. The game series is highly reputed for its story and gameplay. The new instalment is sure to up the level in that context, other than the fact that the Mountain himself is endorsing the brand. All these factors make Valhalla a must-try, if not, your head might hurt a bit! (Sorry Pedro!)
