Game of Thrones Season 8 is on its way in the first half of 2019 and we still have a long way to go until it finally airs. On 17th of September, the series finally won the much-awaited Emmy for “Outstanding Drama Series” along with Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) who won an Emmy for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.”
Well, Digital Spy had a moment of talk with David Benioff – who is one of the showrunners of Game of Thrones. Upon being asked why the next season of Game of Thrones is ahead of schedule and taking too long to be aired, Benioff explained:
“The final season is taking a long time because it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done…Even though it’s six episodes, it was nearly a full year in Belfast either prepping it or shooting it…It’s quite extraordinary what the crew and the actors created, and I think when people see it they’ll understand why it took so long.”
Of course, we do understand that if Game of Thrones is too long, we will definitely get something epic out of it. We have also been promised a bittersweet ending and have a long time to speculate what could possibly happen in the next season. With a huge budget being spent on each episode this year, we all definitely know that it will be splendid.
Benioff ended by saying,
“No-one’s going on vacation or slacking off, it’s just that last season is far beyond what we’ve ever attempted before, and it is taking a really f**king long time – and I hope it will be worth it.”
We will know it once the new season airs. Until then, all we can do is re-watching the last seven seasons over and over again. How epic would be Game of Thrones Season 8? What do you think? Tell us in the comments.
