All writers in the industry, regardless of the network they work for, would benefit from the resolution that put an end to the Writers Guild of America strike. Everything in Hollywood, including eagerly awaited television series and movies, had been delayed by the strike. SAG-AFTRA joined the cause a few months ago and is currently spreading support and traveling in the same direction for the actors. According to reports, these strikes have seriously harmed the industry.
SAG-AFTRA awaits AMPTP response
As the guild awaits the studios’ response to their most recent proposal, it looks like Sunday, October 29 will be a working day for both parties. According to Deadline, it’s up to them whether that means a day of review or another in-person or virtual meeting.
Following a resumption of negotiations on October 24, the studios suggested raising minimum rates and increasing bonuses contingent on the popularity of streaming movies and series. The studios proposed raising minimums by 7%, and SAG-AFTRA responded on Friday with a “comprehensive counter,” dropping the proposed 11% increase to 9%.

In support of the ongoing actors’ strike, a group of SAG-AFTRA strike captains arranged an open letter that appears to have been signed by thousands of union members, which include Pedro Pascal, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Cynthia Nixon, Leslie Odom Jr. Demi Moore, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jon Hamm, Mark Ruffalo, Jonathan Groff, Kate Walsh, Chelsea Handler and more. Some, like Pascal, have also been seen on picket lines.
