D. B. Weiss and David Benioff are back in news again! Do not worry it has got nothing to do with the final season of Game of Thrones. After being part of a crossover between the two worlds on HBO’s Westworld, the duo has now got an able director for their upcoming Netflix project Metal Lords. Read on to find out more!
The showrunner duo of Game of Thrones had signed a huge deal with the streaming giant a few months ago and there had been lots of anticipation building around it. Now, it has been confirmed that Peter Sollett will be directing the duo’s upcoming project Metal Lords. Sollett’s work includes Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist and a few episodes of Rise and Almost Family.
As per Full Circle Cinema, Weiss and Benioff are going to be the producer along with Greg Shapiro of The Hurt Locker fame. As per the report, the film will follow two high school kids with dreams to start a heavy metal band. Additionally, they come across a girl who plays the cello and the three form a tumultuous team to compete in an upcoming battle of the bands.
The duo was recently also seen together in an episode of Westworld. Their cameo showed a dragon that looked similar to Drogon, laying dead, leading to some fans saying that HBO has finally killed the last surviving dragon. Plenty was said about that cameo too as it received mixed reactions from the fans. However, the makers of Westworld, Lisa Joy, and Jonathan Nolan, were happy about it and in fact, credited George R.R. Martin for the idea!
They had said:
“We’re also friendly with George R.R. Martin, and George had consistently since the first season said, “We’ve got to do a tie-in with ‘Game of Thrones.’” People forget that George was originally a TV writer and he came up in the TV world in which you’d occasionally have these crossover shows, which the fans would f—ing freak out over. So George had always been pitching the crossover show.”
