Game of Thrones is massive fandom, and it has a crazy way of building up anticipation which makes us fans go mad. Season 6 started airing over a year ago, and as we know Season 7 still had about three months to start airing. Now, talking about the books, The Winds of Winter, might release this year, too, after a long wait. With such high levels of anticipation, and all the hype the franchise has around it, us fans usually resort to crazy theorizing, and some of those theories actually come true. The hottest theory under discussion right now is the most direct interpretation of the Valonqar theory about Cersei Lannister‘s death, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister on the show, has now commented on it. Read on!
For those of you who don’t know, the Valonquar theory states that Cersei will be killed by a “little brother.” That, added to the fact that Jaime shared a very odd look with Cersei at the end of last season, and that he is actually a few minutes younger to Cersei (giving meaning to the term “little brother”) has everybody saying that Jaime might ultimately be the one to kill her, and be the Queenslayer this time around. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had previously commented on this theory saying it might be a bit obvious, and his recent comments do hold that tone, but he sounds more accepting of it. Talking to Harper’s Bazaar about his upcoming movie, Small Crimes, Nikolaj was asked about this theory. He said :
“I heard that theory, and it absolutely makes sense. It would be a perfect little nod. But who knows? You’ll have to watch the show [laughs]. It’s a good theory. I always thought maybe it’s too neat, but who knows.”
He was also asked about what he thought Jaime thought about Tormund and Brienne‘s ‘relationship’, to which he said :
“I don’t think he knows about it. He’s not on social media, so he’s not getting the play by play.”
So there! Nikolaj does seem to think that we might not be too crazy to think that Jaime will kill Cersei. What are your thoughts on the theory? Tell us in the comments, below!
