Game of Thrones Season 8 will be the real deal. Season 7 had a lot of crossovers, and we saw a lot of people come together, character that hadn’t ever met before, and it was beautiful. However, there’s still some characters that didn’t share as much screentime as we would have liked them to, but it seems like Season 8 will take care of that. In a recent interview, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays the role of Jaime Lannister, revealed that he shares scenes with a key cast member in Season 8. It’s a spoiler though, so SPOILER ALERT! Consider yourself warned!
Nikolaj recently spoke to WRadio about Game of Thrones, Jaime’s journey, and Season 8. Now as we know, Jaime has seen some major transformation, from beginning of Season 1 to the end of Season 7, and he spoke a bit about that:
“I think it’s all connected. When he says “the things I do for love’” that’s one of the reasons he walks out in the end. He tells Cersei, after he learns she’s pregnant: “Hey, if we don’t defeat the threat from the North, we’ll all die and there won’t be any future, for you, for the child, or for anyone.” So he is still guided by that idea. And he is a man of his word. He promised he would go north.
The development of the character, in my mind, he’s become more of what his father told him in the first season: “I want you to become the man you were meant to be.” I think he is moving to that point and is getting very close to being that person.”
Now we have seen some interesting on-screen chemistry coming from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime, but it seems like we’re up for yet another interesting pairing. Nikolaj revealed that he enjoyed filming with Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos, the most:
“I really liked working with Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth. We worked together and now we get along very well. I will not go into depth because I would be giving away spoilers.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of scenes these two share together. As we have seen, both of them have their own brand of wit, and it definitely will be a fun pairing. It also looks like the two will share a sizable duration of screentime, since Nikolaj’s statement implies that.
