Game of Thrones ended a year ago, and not only the fans but also the artists are finding it hard to move on. After all, the show was a major part of their lives. The show brought them recognition, fame and fortune one can only dream of. Many of the show’s actors have moved on to new projects, one of them being Maisie Williams.
The success of Game of Thrones opened up many opportunities for Williams. In a recent interview with NME, Maisie revealed that she is aware fans will always compare her with Arya Stark. She admitted it is just an “impossible challenge” to avoid comparisons.
She also said,
“I don’t think I’m ever gonna be a part of anything that’s gonna be seen by that many people or streamed in that many countries or costs that much to make again.”
This hasn’t held her back though, from going after roles outside of her comfort zone.
“That’s basically all I want to do from now onwards. I think that so much great work comes from being super uncomfortable – as an actor, obviously, not for everyone.”
Maisie played the role of Arya Stark, daughter of Ned Stark and an accomplished assassin, since she was 12. She rose to fame at 15, when the show was reaching new heights of popularity. She was home-schooled for the last couple of her high-school years because of constant bullying. Now she is one of Britain’s brightest young talents.
The rising star will now be seen in comedy “Two weeks to Live”. She plays Kim, daughter to Sian Clifford, a paranoid mum living in isolation with her. The story progresses dramatically as she meets up with her brothers Jay (Taheen Modak) and Nicky (Mawaan Rizwan) in a nearby town.
The new role is sure to be a welcome challenge for Maisie. How do you feel about it? Tell us in the comments below.
