Game of Thrones was definitely the biggest TV show of the 21’st century. Very few shows come even close to the epic fantasy in terms of budget, cinematography, popularity, viewership, and the number of awards won. Game of Thrones still holds the record for the most number of Emmy Awards won to date. However, the show certainly wasn’t perfect and had its own set of inconsistencies. There were several characters and storylines that were forgotten in the sands of time, or rather as the fans call it, David and Dan’s amnesia.
Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, famous for playing Arya Stark, is well aware of how David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are treated by a majority of the Game of Thrones fanbase. She recently appeared on the WIRED Autocomplete Interview to answer the internet’s most searched questions about herself. Some of the fun ones are listed here, one of which includes her acknowledging Game of Thrones’ various plotholes:
Q: When did Maisie Williams turn into an assassin?
Maisie: Shortly after birth. No, I’m guessing that this is asking during my time on Game of Thrones. I think it was around Season 5, Arya starts to do some pretty intense training across the Narrow Sea at Braavos. Gets beaten up a lot of times and then ultimately becomes a faceless man.
Q: When did Maisie Williams start acting?
M: Game of Thrones was my first role, and I was cast in that on the 7th of August, 2009. I have it written down here (shows her tattoo) for memory. That was the beginning of it all. I kind of had only really acted in school plays up until that point. And then I was acting in front of the world. So I had to learn fast.
Q: When did Maisie Williams become famous?
M: Shortly after I started acting, HBO took care of that (chuckles). Yeah, when I was about 12 years old, or maybe 13 by the time the show came out.
Q: How is Maisie Williams?
M: Honestly, never been better. I feel grateful for this day and this little piece of cardboard.
Q: Why did Maisie Williams dye her eyebrows?
M: I bleached my eyebrows for this role that I played last year. I played a woman named Jordan for Danny Boyle’s show about the Sex Pistols. And she was a fashion icon at the time and worked at Vivian Westwood shop. And so I bleached my eyebrows. When I met Jordan she said, “How do you feel about waxing off all your eyebrows? Because I don’t have any eyebrows.” And obviously confronted with that question from the very person you are playing I said, “Yeah! Absolutely! I would do that. That’s fine.” Then I spoke to Ivana, our makeup artist, and she said, “Actually, we could probably just get away with bleaching them.”
Q: Why didn’t Arya Kill Jaime at The Twins?
M: I don’t know. Probably plot hole courtesy of David and Dan. So, take it up with them (laughs). No, don’t. They’ve had enough (chuckles). Yeah, I’m not sure. She probably just didn’t feel like it that day. She was busy, washing her hair.
Q: Why Maisie Williams?
M: Honestly, I ask myself every day. Why anything.
Q: What happened to Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams?
M: Nothing happened. We saw each other at the Met actually, which was really lovely. And in a room full of strangers it’s really nice to see someone that you just know. We don’t live on the same continent anymore, which is heartbreaking. But whenever she’s here or whenever I’m here, then we try to hang out. Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner are still in love.
