Game of Thrones is a giant franchise, and the quality of fantasy it puts forth makes us wish there were a video game that let us play the events. We recently reported that a mobile game called Game of Thrones: Conquest has been announced, and is due for release later this year, but that’s not exactly what we want.
There have been rumours about Bethesda making a Game of Thrones video game, and a listing of the same recently showed up on Target, and was later taken down. Read on!
Forbes recently reported about a Bethesda Game of Thrones game listing showing up on Target. The listing didn’t have much of a detail, and looked unauthentic to begin with. Check out a screenshot of the listing below, thanks to GamesRadar :
The listing has since then been taken down. ComicBook.com managed to get an official statement from Target which said that the listing was fake. A spokesperson said :
“This is not a real product – we’re sorry for any confusion.”
Bethesda has always been the ideal choice for a Game of Thrones RPG game, if one was to ever release. The developer has a portfolio which shows the specific experience the ideal maker of the game should have, and Bethesda has even been approached before by Geroge R. R. Martin‘s representatives, back in 2011, but passed the opportunity to work on Skyrim, which is set in a world quite similar to Westeros.
So for now, it seems like we might be farther from a Game of Thrones video game than we thought, but the money involved will be crazy, and Bethesda might just take up the project someday soon. We won’t lose hope. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
