Game of Thrones has some of the best stars on board, and we see the stars take on other projects, all the time. The latest project stars Kit Harington, who plays the role of Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, and Mark Gatiss, who plays the role of the Iron Banker, Tyco Nestoris, also known for his portrayal of Mycroft Holmes on BBC’s Sherlock, on which he was also a showrunner. The two will be seen together in a new BBC miniseries, titled Gunpowder. Read on!
Gunpowder is a three-part drama produced by BBC1, and Thriker Films, Kit’s own production company. It will have three parts, and air on BBC One on this fall, in a primetime slot. It will also star, Tom Cullen, Liv Tyler and Peter Mullan.
The drama will be based on the famous 17th century event, known as the ‘Gunpowder Plot,’, which was a failed assassination attempt on the king of England. Tom Cullen will play Guy Fawkes. Kit will play Robert Catesby. Liv Tyler will play Catesby’s cousin Anne Vaux, while Mark Gatiss will play the role of Robert Cecil. The story follows the efforts of Robert Catesby’s attempt to assassinate King James I with the help of Guy Fawkes, by trying to blow up the British House of Lords while the King was there. The event is still celebrated as the Guy Fawkes day, on 5th of November. Check out a first look teaser of the show, below :
Interesting fact is that Kit has a connection to the character he plays. Kit’s full name is Christopher Catesby Harrington, and Robert Catesby is his maternal ancestor. Looks like this show will be quite a ride, although three parts might be a bit too less for us. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
