Game of Thrones Season 7 ended a while ago, and Season 8 filming begins this month. As you all know, Season 7 had a longer wait than usual, and it has been said that we will have to wait even longer for Season 8, with reports saying the premiere might go as far as 2019. Now the real reason behind this delay seems to have been revealed, by Iain Glen, who plays the role of Jorah Mormont on the show. Read on!
Iain Glen was recently present at Comic Con Stockholm, and gave a nice and long interview. The interview was about his career, and included a lot of bits from Game of Thrones. The full video is up on YouTube. Watch it below :
Moving on to the part where he revealed why Season 8 will probably arrive late, we have to skip to the 6:50 mark, where Iain said that Season 8 will use only a single production unit, as opposed to the regular two, or even three, as the show is more streamlined now, than ever :
“As we narrowed it down and we’re entering this kind of end-game…we’re all starting to occupy the same territory. We’re all starting to be in the same storylines. I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.”
He also gave us a tentative Season 8 filming commencement date, sort of. At 20:40, he said that the cast will first assemble for a read-through of Season 8 on October 9. He said :
“I suspect that will be about the first time that us as actors find out what’s going on. So they don’t trust us.”
The video has many other interesting bits, including Iain saying the ideal way for Jorah to die would be while trying to save Daenerys, so watch the video, above. Talk to us in the comments, down below!
