Well, the wait might have become just a little shorter, as the production for House of The Dragon Season 2 has officially begun.
When does House of The Dragon Season 2 begin filming?
HBO’s official House of The Dragon Twitter account just tweeted a few minutes ago that production has officially begun. We already had reports of sets being erected at Leavesden Studios in UK in the last couple of days, and it seems like filming will commence from today onwards.

How many episodes will House of The Dragon Season 2 have?
The second season of House of The Dragon will reportedly be shorter than the previous one. According to a report by Deadline, the Game of Thrones prequel will have an 8-episode long Season 2, 2 episodes shorter than Season 1. An HBO spokesperson confirmed that the reason behind the shorter season was not because of a lack of budget, but rather a story-driven choice.
When will House of The Dragon return?
The filming of House of The Dragon season 2 has just begun production, with the casting process almost complete and the sets being constructed at key locations. HBO chief Casey Bloys has confirmed in an indirect way that House of The Dragon won’t be coming back before the summer of 2024.
