We had reported few months back that Game of Thrones was returning to Iceland to film season 7 but there was no information regarding the places that would be used for filming. In the past, the country has been used to film the scenes beyond the Wall and also some of the scenes between the Hound and Arya Stark. However, Watchers on the Wall have reported that there is a set-like setup taking place in Stangarvegur, in the Gjáin valley.
The set is known to be a hydroelectric dam but the site is said to be closed for construction for a another two years. However this was the place where there was active construction taking place. It is said that a “local shopkeeper” said that this set was being made for the filming of Game of Thrones season 7.
The pictures reveal the construction site which looks very much like an alley made of ice and the walls surrounding it. It seems pretty legit to believe the “shopkeeper” for now, until HBO or an official source confirms it.

We will share more information about filming in Iceland as and when we get any information.
