As Game of Thrones Season 8 films, we see developments across all the sets used for the show. However one set has been in the news more than the others: the King’s Landing set at Titanic Studios, Belfast, Northern Ireland! The set has been developed extensively and it turns out that it’s likely that the end of Game of Thrones filming won’t be the end of this set. Read on!
The King’s Landing set at Titanic Studios, Belfast was built for Season 8. King’s Landing has previously been shown in the show using other locations, especially Dubrovnik, Croatia, which has been used this time too, but the production has made this set at Belfast, which is the biggest set that they have ever built, and it cost over £1 million to build. However it seems like all that money won’t go unused, says a report by Belfast Telegraph.
The report says that the set will stay on even after Game of Thrones Season 8 is done filming, the set will stand by “as a tourist attraction and for movie projects.” That’s not all, apparently the set will be used by Disney for filming Star Wars, after HBO finishes filming Season 8:
“As Sunday Life revealed last month, the latest Star Wars spin-off is due to begin filming there next year.
Franchise creator and legendary director George Lucas visited Belfast before Christmas to give his seal of approval to the city being used as a location.”
If that is indeed true, it will mean that that’s yet another giant franchise using the set, which will really up its value. There’s a good chance HBO could also return to use the set for filming the Game of Thrones prequel spin-offs, as and when that comes to be. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
