Ever since it’s announcement, fans have been speculating about key characters and casts. There have been rumours about the House of the Dragon casting currently taking place at the HBO headquarters. As expected, it only adds to the hype engine fuelled by fans.
The HBO are reportedly eyeing actors for the role of Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother to the King Viserys Targaryen. He is described as a middle aged man, between 40 to 50 years of age. He was in line to the throne, but he never expressed his desire for it directly. The Prince is said to be constantly obsessed with earning the love and acceptance of his brother, the King. He gets bored very easily, but is really skilled with a sword. He is a seasoned warrior who keeps swinging between good and vile nature.
House of the dragon is expected to span the period from the arrival of Aegon Targaryen to Westeros to the Dance of the Dragons, and the internal conflict and civil war that tore them apart. The source material is of course George R. R. Martin’s novel, Fire and Blood. It also includes anthologies Dangerous Women and Rogues.
The show is scheduled to premiere in 2022, with castings and shooting to begin in 2021. The show-runners are Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik (Emmy winner for the “Battle of the Bastards” episode ) and Ryan Condal.
