Game of Thrones Season 7 has a lot of fantasy elements that we have always held dear, and one of them, is Dragons. We have seen Dragons be a major part of the show for a long time, ranging from Daenerys Targaryen‘s trio, to stories of Balerion the Dread, the giant dragon that Aegon Targaryen used to conquer Westeros. Now, we have seen the huge chamber beneath the Red Keep, that has remains of the dead Dragons, and we finally got a glimpse at it in the second episode of Season 7, titled Stormborn. We saw quite a few Dragon skulls, and now HBO has released pictures of the skulls for us to have a good look at. Read on!
If you don’t know already, HBO gives us fans behind the scenes peeks, more regularly than ever, through ‘Making Game of Thrones.’ The latest peek is from the second episode of Season 7. We saw Cersei Lannister take a walk in the Dragonpit along with Qyburn, who showed her the Dragon skulls, with a special focus on Balerion the Dread. He also showed her a giant spear that was designed to harm Dragons, and Cersei fired it, piercing through Balerion’s skull. HBO has now released clear pictures of the Dragon skulls. Check the pictures out, below :
Head Sculptor of the Game of Thrones construction department, Darren Fitzsimons said that it took six weeks to just carve the skull of Balerion the Dread, which is the largest of the skulls, at about 30 feet long, 11 feet high and 16 feet wide. Giving a bit of insight into how they worked on the skulls, Fitzsimons explained :
“We have a sheep’s skull in our workshop to look at how the surface texture looks. We try to bring everything back into reality using references from the real world.”
