We finally have the first footage from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. The teaser was released by HBO at the end of the HBO Max European launch event and it features a voiceover by Matt Smith who plays the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen.
“Gods. Kings. Fire and Blood. Dreams didn’t make us king … Dragons did.” *GOOSEBUMPS*
One of the best parts of the trailer was the scene that featured the Great Hall in the Red Keep. In the Game of Thrones prequel, we will get to see a new Iron Throne, one that is kind of close to what George R.R. Martin imagined it to look like when he wrote the books. Here’s the most accurate depiction of the Iron Throne according to George R.R. Martin. Also, looking at the scene, it does feel that the Iron Throne is made of the thousand blades of Aegon’s fallen enemies.
We get to see the Iron Throne in another scene from the teaser trailer but we had to zoom in to get a proper look at the Iron Throne.
In Game of Thrones TV series, the Iron Throne didn’t actually have 1000 swords and during the famous “Chaos is a ladder” scene Littlefinger tells Lord Varys that there aren’t even 200 swords in the Iron Throne.
The day before yesterday we had reported that we could expect the House of the Dragon teaser trailer to arrive in 2 weeks and that the full trailer will be released 1 week before Christmas.
