Game of Thrones has had a lot of iconic characters over the years, but if we’re speaking in terms of physical strength, The Mountain wins without a doubt. Snapping back to the real world, the actor who plays The Mountain, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, is a strongman himself. After defeating his rival Eddie Hall in the World’s Heaviest Boxing match, he was preparing for a return to powerlifting, when he met with a horrific accident.
Björnsson tore his left pec while attempting a personal record
Björnsson was at his local gym in a competition, trying to bench press 556 lbs and set a personal record. In the video uploaded by The Sun, you can see Björnsson effortlessly racking the bar, but while trying to lift it, facing a lot of stress. His left elbow drops as he suffers the injury, and the spotters rush to help him.

Is Hafþór Björnsson going to be okay?
Muscle tears of these kinds are really taxing and painful, and it might take as much as a year to heal completely. But we know how strong the Game of Thrones’ Mountain really is, and hopefully, he will make a quick recovery. However, his dream of re-entering the powerlifting circuit will have to wait, for at least 2023.
