Game of Thrones has done well at the awards season this year, with Season 7 being featured at about every award it was eligible for, and having won quite a few. The awards season is almost over, and Game of Thrones Season 7 recently took home three BAFTA Awards. Read on!
Now, as you might remember, Game of Thrones had two nominations at this year’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, commonly known as the BAFTA Awards. The show bagged a win in both of these categories. First off, was the Costume Design Award, for which the brilliant Michele Clapton was nominated. She won the well deserved win, for the brilliant costume changes we saw in the characters, to match the moods. Check out her acceptance speech:
Secondly, was the Production DesignAward, for which Deborah Riley and Rob Cameron were nominated for their work on Season 7 sets, bringing them the much deserved win. Acceptance speech, below:
Now, like we said in the title, Game of Thrones also won a third award, although it wasn’t by nomination. As we had reported earlier, the British Academy decided to give Game of Thrones, a Special Award, this time around, to recognize the “behind-the-scenes talent involved in the making of the series and their outstanding contribution to pushing boundaries within the various crafts involved.” Game of Thrones was truly appreciated at the BAFTAs with this award. Like we had reported,John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) accepted the award on behalf of the entire production. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did send a video message. Check out the full video of the acceptance speeches, below:
