Game of Thrones season 7 has been unusual in many aspects. With it’s character reunions and tons of plot lines finally converging, nearing the end, filming a battle sequence like no other and the decreased number of episodes. Many of the fans weren’t very happy about the fact that there will be fewer episodes than the show’s usual count of ten, but this season Game of Thrones made up for the lack of ten episodes with two of the longest episodes we’ve seen so far! Episode 6 of season 7, ‘Beyond the Wall’ lasted for 70 minutes, which was the longest yet. But the season finale of the show is going to be even longer.
HBO recently issued a press release about the finale of season 7. Here it is:
The final episode of GAMES OF THRONES’ current season is titled “The Dragon and the Wolf,” and debuts this SUNDAY, AUG. 27 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO. The total running time is 79 minutes, 43 seconds.
The title of the episode is The Dragon and the Wolf, which, a lot of fans assume is about Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. We might finally get to see Rhaegar and Lyanna’s story through Bran Stark’s greensight. Or the title could probably have something to do with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, although Jon’s been proven to be a Targaryen now so it would really make more sense for it to be about Rhaegar and Lyanna. Since we’ve already heard rumours about an actor playing Rhaegar in season 7, the possibilities are looking good.
Though season 8 has promised to have each episode about 80 minutes long, so the finale of season 7 wouldn’t be the longest episode of the series throughout. But that is the case at the moment, so let’s just rejoice about the fact that we still have 79 minutes and 43 seconds of Game of Thrones left in our lives.
