Game of Thrones has a fantastic cast and an even better crew. Every year, the crew works in all sorts of conditions to bring the show to life. In today’s news, we have a sad news about a Game for Thrones crew member. Cameraman Mark Milsome, who has worked on Game of Thrones, has passed away while filming a stunt for the upcoming BBC/Netflix drama series, The Forgiving Earth, in Ghana.
The cameraman is known for his work on multiple famous projects such as Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Poldark, Downton Abbey, the Bond film Quantum of Solace, The Theory of Everything, Saving Private Ryan, Doctor Strange and had been working on the sets on The Forgiving Earth, in Ghana, filming a car stunt scene, when he died. BBC released a statement about his death, saying :
“We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear this terrible news. Mark Milsome was hugely talented and a much-respected colleague. Our thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
It is unknown how exactly he died, but his agent, Sarah Prince has said that the incident is being investigated :
“We have been utterly devastated by the death of our lovely Mark Milsome. Mark was one of the nicest, kindest people; an incredibly generous soul, a greatly- talented cameramen but completely humble with it.
A gentle gentleman – a rare, universally admired and genuinely loved member of the film industry family. In the current climate, with stories of the degenerate behaviour of people in this industry. Mark was the antithesis of all that – he shone out – he was all that was good about it. He will be so greatly missed by us all.
An investigation into the circumstances is under way, we all need answers to this dreadful tragedy.”
He worked on three episodes of Game of Thrones Season 6, Battle of the Bastards, The Door, andBook of the Stranger. He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother and father, cinematographer, Doug Milsome. Our condolences to the family.
