Game of Thrones first aired about ten years ago on 17th April 2011. The show managed to keep the audience hooked for nearly a decade. HBO is celebrating the month as the Iron anniversary. The Iron Anniversary includes a range of features and events for Game of Thrones viewers. From personalized HBO Max episode curations, a Game of Thrones ‘MaraThrone‘ and more throughout the month. Moreover, jewellery maker Fabergé released designs for an extraordinary new piece of Game of Thrones tie-in merchandise, worth £1.6m.
The valuable jewellery’s release coincides with the show’s 10th anniversary. The item is a Fabergé egg based on the dragon egg seen in the hit HBO fantasy series. Fabergé’s head designer Liisa Tallgren, in collaboration with Michele Clapton, the costume designer on Game of Thrones, designed the egg.
According to the official website, the egg is a “one-off work of art. It fuses our superior craftsmanship and artistic ingenuity with one of the 21st century’s most iconic TV series”.
“This one-of-a-kind bespoke creation is symbolic of Daenerys’ dragon eggs. Intertwining subtle nods to her stand-out costumes which celebrate the landscape around her and her evolving story arc,” adds the description.
“The design choices explain Daenerys’ journey from orphaned exile to conquering monarch. And her ongoing quest for the Iron Throne.”
The egg features a purple and silver exterior shell finished with diamonds, and a glistening crystal base. On the inside, there is a miniaturised version of the crown that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) would have worn.

Some actors are so good at portraying a character that we end up thinking they’re born for this role. When you think of the character, that actor pops in your head first automatically. Pedro Pascal is one of the most successful actors in the entertainment industry currently. He has a number of memorable roles under his belt such as Game of Thrones’ charming Oberyn Martell. Currently, he has gained a huge fan following for playing the role of Din Djarin on The Mandalorian. With so many decade-defining roles up his sleeve, no wonder fans would love to see him more on the silver screen. Their wishes might just have been granted – Pedro reportedly signed multiple deals for multiple Mandalorian projects.
Insider Daniel Richtman has reported that Pascal has signed a new deal for multiple projects related to The Mandalorian. That will see him show up all over the small screen Star Wars universe. Taking to his Patreon account, the tipster wrote: “Pedro signed [a] huge deal to be in multiple projects as Mando.”
If Pedro in fact agreed to a new contract with Lucasfilm, it’s not going to bear any fruit for a while yet. After all, The Last of Us starts shooting in Calgary this July and isn’t set to wrap until eleven months later. The video game adaptation is the topmost priority for Pascal currently.

House of The Dragon is already on its way for its release in 2022. All the key players are set and we just can’t hold our excitement as more news comes from HBO. For the time being, we can reflect back on our favourite moments from Game of Thrones. Undeniably, one of them has to be the Battle of Blackwater. Entertainment Weekly editor James Hibberd’s book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon sheds more light on the episode.
Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have admitted in the book the amazing battle scene almost didn’t happen. Weiss said, “There was talk of turning Blackwater into a land battle, which would have been terrible.”
“We begged and pleaded with Mike Lombardo [former HBO boss]. We had a big conversation about how many boats we could do,” he commented. David Benioff added, “We went down on bended knee: ‘Just this once, please.’” Ultimately the pair were granted an extra $2million to bring the Battle of Blackwater to life during an extra week of filming.
But even with those concessions, they knew there was no way they could replicate what George R.R. Martin had written in his books. To reduce the scale of this battle, which was the largest battle in the War of the Five Kings, Martin was tasked with a rewrite.
He mentioned to Hibberd in his book, “We had to scale down Blackwater considerably from the book. They told me right from the start that the bridge of boats would be impossible.”
Actor Stephen Dillane (Stannis) never even understood what was happening in Game of Thrones. What do you think about the Battle of Blackwater? Tell us in the comments below!
