Comic books own a massive fandom today, thanks to the various TV and movie adaptations we’ve seen in the past few decades. The superhero genre practically rules the entertainment industry right now, prime examples being MCU and DCEU. Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke has recently signed up for a role in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The actress is keen on exploring more comic book universes. She will now co-write a comic herself.
Clarke will write her first superhero comic book series M.O.M.: Mother of Madness from Image Comics this July. And she gave a subtle nod to the fact her character is inspired by Daenerys from Game of Thrones.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “It didn’t come out of nowhere. I wanted Maya to be a single mother; I wanted that first and foremost,” Clarke tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So I’m not going to say I’m Jenny from the Block, but it’s an acknowledgement of how I’m able to give this beautiful fanbase this other thing that I did because they supported me and gave me the props when I was doing [Game of Thrones].”
Her comic book characters design is very much based on Daenerys as well. Are you excited about Emilia Clarke’s first comic book series? Talk to us in the comments below!
Game of Thrones was a huge show. It comprised many characters and each of those characters had a significance of their own. Even the actors that were part of the show belonged to different diversity and were proud to represent their origin. Nathalie Emmanuel who played the character of Missandei too felt that she was part of a change and was thankful for the show. Her character’s death was a turning point on Game of Thrones. It tipped Daenerys over the edge, so much so that the Mother of Dragons burned the whole city of King’s Landing to ashes. The actress recently opened up about how she felt about her character’s demise on the show.
She told Elle UK, “Every season, I opened the script expecting to be killed. The fact that I made it to season 8 was a shock. And so when it finally happened, I wasn’t thinking ‘Oh no’, I was more like… ‘It was always going to happen eventually’. I didn’t necessarily have a fear because it was Game of Thrones – it was kind of known for [killing popular characters] and I don’t see why I would be an exception to the rule (laughs).”
She recalled, “My favourite memories are those times when we weren’t filming, and we were just hanging out, being silly together with the cast and the crew. When we had dinners or went to concerts, just that fun stuff. That connection that I built with those people will be with me for a long time.”

Game of Thrones had a highly critical ending which was also the one most talked about in all of television history. The final season divided the fanbase into two, some favour the controversial season, others not so much. Even the cast of the show seems to have a divided opinion about it. Actors like Charles Dance and Miltos Yerolemou felt it was a bit unsatisfying. Lena Headey said her character deserved a better death. It took quite a while for Emilia Clarke to come to terms with the finale. Then there are actors like Joe Dempsie, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams who lauded the last season with heaps of praises. Recently, another Game of Thrones alum Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei on the show, shared her perspective on the same.
In an interview with Elle UK, she said, “I did like the ending. I thought what they were able to do, after such a huge monster of a show, was really impressive… I think what they’ve achieved for television is so insane. The amount of work and talent from every department; I was kind of blown away by it, and I was really proud of everybody.”
She added, “But we need to think about how many people have been following the show. There really was no way to make every single person happy.”

It is no doubt that the popularity of Game of Thrones has turned it into a pop culture icon. At the peak of its popularity, the fans were so crazed about the show, there were many stories of how newborn babies were named after Game of Thrones characters. Recently, Country star Jimmie Allen announced he was about to welcome a baby with his wife Alexis. And he already has a name for his child in mind, taken straight from the pages of A Song of Ice and Fire.
In an interview with The Sam Alex Show, Allen revealed the sex of his upcoming baby. “We’ve got a new girl, a baby girl on the way,” says Allen. “We didn’t do the whole baby reveal thing because we did it for the first one, we’re done [with that] – whatever pops out, pops out.”
Allen also shared that he wanted to name his daughter after Maisie Williams’ Game of Thrones character. “We do not have a name ‘cause we were preparing for a boy so we don’t have a girl name. I wanna name her Arya Stark Allen because I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan but Lex ain’t lettin’ that happen! So I don’t know what we’re gonna call her,” he says. “We might just name her ‘Hey You.’”
Game of Thrones and real life couple Kit Harington and Rose Leslie also welcomed their first child earlier this year. What name would you suggest for Allen’s baby on the way? Tell us in the comments below!
