Game of Thrones Season 8 will be on our TV screens in less than two weeks now. HBO which has already dropped a bunch teasers and the official full-length trailer seems to take no halt upping the hype. The perfect example for which is the latest Game of Thrones teaser ‘Aftermath’ which has not only given us an insight into the upcoming Battles but also has set a tone with a number of details put in.

We already are familiar with the gruesome Battle of Winterfell in Season 8 teased in the trailers and promos released till date. But, this teaser has hyped it up, even more, taking it to a much higher level. So, here are the 8 big details you missed in the teaser along with an analysis on the same.

#Dragonglass arrows

Jon Snow succcessfully managed to mine Dragonglass while he was at Dragonstone and it turns out the Northerners have managed to turn it into a variety of weapons with Gendry’s help. We had already seen a Dragonglass axe in season 7, when Jon and others went past the Wall to bring back a Wigh. This is the first time we are seeing arrows being made out of Dragonglass but will they be enough to halt the marching army of the dead?

#Tyrion Lannister’s Hand of the Queen Brooch

All of know that Daenerys and Co will arrive at Winterfell in the opening scene of the first episode of Season 8 and will be a big part of the Winterfell Battle. It’s obvious, thus, that a lot of her crew members will fight alongside the Starks but we seldom discuss the fate of Tyrion Lannister who’s been a big part of the entire story. But, as he isn’t much of a fighter? What will be his fate in the upcoming season?

#Arya Stark’s Needle

Arya Stark has returned back to Winterfell realising that she needs to be at her family’s side in the Great War. And, as the official trailer suggested ‘she knows death’ and ‘is ready to face this one’. Also, we saw her doing some hardcore action while fighting the White Walker army too at Winterfell. But, will she survive the battle?

#Feather that Robert honoured Lyanna with

The feather that Robert Baratheon honoured Lyanna Stark’s statue in the pilot episode of Season 1 has been brought into the game and has been heavily referenced in the teasers for Season 8. The feather in the teaser is seen flying off and falling on the ground just like ‘the Crypts of Winterfell’ but seems to be used in a totally different context here. Where it initially showed Jon Snow’s link to Lyanna, this feather seems to suggest remorse after everything is lost.

#Bran Stark’s broken Wheelchair

Even Bran Stark who seems to be playing a minimal role or not being physically involved in the Battle doesn’t seem to be safe from the consequences of it. The Wheelchair Maester Volkan made for him the last season in Winterfell can be seen at the foot of the stairs broken, in shatters with a wheel detached and some furs buried under it.

#Jaime Lannister’s Golden Hand

Jaime Lannister has been confirmed to be a part of the Winterfell battle as he ‘intends to honour’ the pledge he made of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. In the official trailer, we saw him fighting alongside Brienne of Tarth and shouting Bronn/Jon/run and his face looked all covered in blood. While his Golden Hand suggests him being a Lannister, in the teaser it suggests him falling in the battlefield and the hand of gold seems to be cold.

#Daenerys Targaryen’s Dragon Chain

Daenerys Targaryen has come to the aide of Jon Snow and the Northerners to deal with the threat of the White Walkers. But her broken chain evident in the image above with three dragons embedded on it suggests that she will probably fall in the battle too. Even if we don’t buy it, saying that she is totally safe in the Great War may not come to terms. Though many people argue that Dragons are Dany’s biggest advantage, yet we were proven wrong in the last season.

#Longclaw fallen with blood on it

Longclaw is one of the few Valyrian Steel swords currently in the show and in possession of Jon Snow. And, we all know how much serious damage it can do to the White Walkers and the wights turned by them. Jon has already killed two of the White Walker lieutenants with it, shattering them into pieces. But, what does his sword with blood on it indicate? Will he die again this time fighting the dead?

#A glimpse of a White Walker/Night King

Just before the teaser ends and fades to black, you can evidently someone standing in the background while Longclaw stays in focus. As the stature suggests he is the Night King or a White Walker. Night King has been absent from all trailers and teasers we’ve seen before along with other White Walkers, except for undead horse’s legs in the official trailer. But, if we’re being kept away from it, the obvious reason seems to be something new coming from the Night King – something about his past or him doing some more spooky stuff this season. Yet, he is the final and ultimate antagonist in the series, we’ve all been led to believe since the opening scene of Season 1.

Overall the teaser was one of the most horrific marketing strategies for the Final Season of Game of Thrones. Most of the characters were shown dead apart from Cersei Lannister, the Greyjoys, and others but the teaser goes into a more symbolic representation of the fact that ‘nobody is safe in the final season’ rather than using proper footage from the series. But, one thing is for sure – ‘Winter is totally here’.
