Game of Thrones has been nominated in endless categories for the Emmys, and it’s common knowledge that the show is going to win a lot of awards this year, based on the splendid presentation of season 6. The show’s popularity has soared to a level that we cannot comprehend, owing to the many game-changing revelations that were made during the season. The penultimate and finale episode of season 6 of Game of Thrones were something out of the ordinary, and they left a massive impact on the viewers and fans. However, episode 9, titled Battle of the Bastards, consisted of the most complex and amazing battle sequence in the history of television, and the episode itself had a lot of surprising moments, be it Danaerys Targaryen and Yara Greyjoy’s alliance, Rickon Stark’s terrible death, Sansa Stark’s lifesaving tactic by bringing the army of the Vale, and Ramsay Bolton’s long-awaited death.
With all of these important revelations and scenes that marked a brilliant episode, it is difficult to choose the most important one of all. However, show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have revealed what they think is a key scene from the episode. During an interview with The Envelope about the Emmy nomination of the aforementioned episode for writing category, Weiss and Benioff were asked about a key scene from the episode. They answered saying that the key moment of Battle of the Bastards according to them was the very last scene, where Sansa Stark finally got her revenge on Ramsay Bolton, by setting his own hounds on him that led to his demise.
“Sansa has suffered greatly at this man’s hands, and watched others lose their lives trying to protect her from him. She has spent a good deal of time plotting her revenge, and Ramsay inadvertently provides her with the perfect method for his own execution. … She watches as Ramsay becomes a victim of his own brutality, and his ravenous dogs satisfy their hunger — and Sansa’s,”they said.
