HBO’s The Last of Us was a unique take on post-apocalyptic horror, focusing more on the humane side of the storyline rather than zombie-infused jumpscares. It elevated the viewing experience to a new level, and as a result, it has become one of the highest-grossing TV shows by HBO yet. There was a lot of symbolism used in the video game adaptation, one of them being Ellie’s pocket knife.
Why was Ellie’s knife so special?
Troy Baker, who played Joel in The Last of Us video games, answers the same question in a new video released by HBO, based on what we have seen in Season 1. He says, “There’s this totem of the baton being passed from not only one Ellie to another, but also from a mother to her daughter. And in this world where Anna realizes that her daughter is going to need protection, she’s going to need someone or something to help protect her. The only thing she has to offer, her birthright, is personified in this switchblade.”
“In that moment, which is also a very violent one, because she realizes she has to do it quickly, before the worst part of her is passed on to the best part of her.”
How many seasons will The Last of Us Part II be stretched into?
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, showrunner Neil Druckmann confirmed Part II will be stretched over multiple seasons. He said, “It’s more than one season.”
Craig Mazin assured it as well, “You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct.”
What can we expect from The Last of Us Season 2?
Showrunner Craig Mazin teased the reporters about what’s to come in Season 2, “Sometimes it will be different radically and sometimes it will be barely different at all, but it’s going to be different and it will be its own thing. It won’t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make. We are making it with Bella.”
