Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon season 1 finished its run last month and received an overwhelmingly positive response from viewers and critics. Some have even labeled it as being better than the first season of Game of Thrones. The Hightowers played a huge part in the story of the Dance of the Dragons, the event from Fire & Blood that the prequel show is based on, and members of the family will be featured prominently throughout the series. However, this is not the first time we are seeing House Hightower. In fact, a famous Hightower knight briefly featured as a kingsguard in an important Game of Thrones scene, and slipped right under our noses.
Ser Gerold Hightower, also known as the White Bull, was the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard during the reigns of kings Jaehaerys II Targaryen and Aerys II Targaryen (The Mad King). In A Song of Ice and Fire series, he along with Ser Arthur Dayne and Ser Oswell Whent were tasked with protecting Lyanna Stark at the tower of joy in the Red Mountains of Dorne during Robert’s Rebellion. He dies after fighting valiantly alongside his two comrades against Ned Stark and his six companions.
In Game of Thrones Season 6, we see an amalgamation of Ser Gerold and Ser Oswell Whent, portrayed by Eddie Eyre during a flashback scene where Bran travels back in time using his 3-eyed raven abilities. It is said that he was stronger than Jaime Lannister at his prime.
