Game of Thrones has a lot of great characters, and while over the years, almost all of them have seen a great deal of change, there are some that have grown so much that your opinion of them now is much different than how it started off. One such characters, is Sansa Stark. In the stream of cast interviews leading up to the Season 7 premiere which is only five days away, is an interview with Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, along with inputs from Kit Harington and Aiden Gillen. Read on!
Sophie Turner recently sat down with USA Today, where she discussed how Sansa has changed over the years. She started off saying :
“She went from being the young, innocent girl who saw the world through rose-tinted glasses and transitioned to being a prisoner but also a listener, adapting under the watchful eye of her captors.
It’s only in the past couple of seasons that we’ve seen her become a leader in her own right and emerge as quite a powerful force in the game.”
Sansa has been subjected to high pressure situations right from the start, and has been under capture for the most part of the show, until last season, where she really pulled off a badass move, and managed to get revenge on Ramsay Bolton. Sophie spoke about this new version of Sansa :
“That’s who Sansa is going to be in the future. She’s as brutal as any of them. Before, she was a victim in many ways. Now, she is very much a protagonist, someone who’s driving the story.”
She spoke about how Game of Thrones was a huge break for her, and how it was great to have grown up on the show. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, agreed. He said :
“It’s crazy going from having this 13-year-old girl that you feel protective over, who’s sweet and innocent and keeps running up to you and telling you not to smoke, and then watching (her) grow over the years into a fascinating, intelligent, incredibly funny and witty young woman.”
Now, we know how Sansa has been Littlefinger‘s responsibility for a while, with results that were often disatrous for her. As Season 7 brings her into the spotlight, she will find herself conflicted between Jon Snow and Littlefinger. Aiden Gillen, who plays the role of Littefinger, spoke about their onscreen relationship :
“He’s been taking Sansa under his wing and watching her grow into this formidable — and less readable — player. They are equals now, almost. I think they both know what the other is up to.”
Sophie discussed a few other things, including her relationship with Maisie Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark on the show, so go check the full interview, here. What do you think will happen to Sansa Stark in Season 7? Any predictions? Tell us in the comments, down below!
