Game of Thrones Season 8 is just officially around four months away with it being airing in April 2019. This has got all fans including me too excited for this year as we have so much to look forward too – Stranger Things, True Detective, Game of Thrones, and much more!
Last year or let’s call it a couple of months ago we got a number of teasers for the final season including three-second-long footage, the first image on the cover of EW, an exclusive cover story with a lot of details about the opening scene, and lastly, the first teaser ‘Dragonstone’. But, HBO just released a new #HBO2019 teaser with new footage from Game of Thrones.
The three-second-long footage shows the continuation of the expected opening scene from the first episode of Season 8. I had theorised that in the last teaser the grim look on Sansa’s face meant that either Sansa is not pleased with Jon’s decision of bending the knee to Daenerys Targaryen or she has some bad news for him. Take a look at the previously released footage:
But, the new teaser points to something else entirely. Sansa much like Jon is yielding Winterfell, even the entire North to Dany. You can clearly hear her saying to Dany, “Winterfell is yours, your grace.”
Well, this seems weird and unbelievable at the first glance as we have already seen the kind of tough ruler Sansa has become over the last couple of seasons. Especially, we can recall how easily she arranged Littlefinger’s trial and had him executed for treason. Here’s another still from the footage:
There are four prominent characters in this scene: Jon Snow, Dany, Sansa, and Brienne of Tarth (she seems to have reached Winterfell earlier) surrounded by a few Stark guards and Unsullied. We can’t be more excited for some other reunions we will surely witness in this scene – Jon and Sansa, Jon and Arya, Jon and Bran, Jon and Samwell Tarly, Tyrion and Sansa, the Hound and Sansa, the Hound and Arya, and last but not the least, Arya and Gendry.
James Hibbert from Entertainment Weekly describes this scene in his own way:
“Season 8 opens at Winterfell with an episode that contains plenty of callbacks to the show’s pilot. Instead of King Robert’s procession arriving, it’s Daenerys and her army. What follows is a thrilling and tense intermingling of characters — some of whom have never previously met, many who have messy histories — as they all prepare to face the inevitable invasion of the Army of the Dead.”

We now we await the first official trailer of Game of Thrones and the official airing date which is just over the horizon. So, how excited did this new footage from Game of Thrones make you? Tell us in the comments and subscribe to our YouTube Channel for more updates on the new season.
