George RR Martin – the creator of the world of Ice and Fire has a number of surprises this year for the fans – his new work ‘Fire and Flood’, a few Easter eggs in them, and now it’s time for the new calendar reveal. The 2019 A Song of Ice and Fire calendar has already been revealed and it’s already available on Amazon.
Some other images of the same calendar by John Jude Palencar were shared by the Twitter user Crown_For_A_King include:
The first one is a Northerner staring at a Weirwood Tree or rather praying – no thoughts on that!
The second one is probably of the beggar king Viserys Targaryen seated slain upon a chair with the Golden Crown Khal Drogo had gifted him.
But, lately, George has shared the first exclusive cover image of A Song of Ice and Fire calendar for the year 2020. You can have a look at that here:
Ice Spiders on the cover of the upcoming calendar – a huge thing to deal with! This was actually shared by George on his blog Not a Blog, where he wrote:
“It’s December and the 2019 Song of Ice and Fire Calendar is NOW available and as our tradition goes it’s time to share some of the art for NEXT year’s 2020 Calendar. We’re proud to be featuring John Howe as our 2020 SoI&F calendar artist. John will be focusing mainly on the beasts of Westeros bringing you a whole new year of lush imagery.”
“Here’s an official sneak peek of his cover art featuring his vision of the legendary ice spiders which haunt old Nan’s scariest bedtime stories. Stay tuned for upcoming news concerning John Howes calendar, and till then check out 2019 SoI&F calendar featuring John Jude Palencar! “
This cover may give us a hint of what George may possibly be trying to convey – Are Ice spiders from Old Nan’s stories coming in the new season of Game of Thrones? Yet, upon being asked about the possibility of these spooky creatures in the upcoming prequel series, George laughed and told the New York Times:
“There might be! I will say nothing about that. Maybe the ice spiders were just a legend! Have you read the new book?”
