HBO has released the 3rd part of their 5 part docuseries about the making of Game of Thrones season 6. Every segment in the 5 part series deals with 2 Game of Thrones episodes and the 3rd part takes us into the making of Game of Thrones season 6 episodes 5 and 6.
In this part, we get to see all the hardwork and details that went into creating the 5th episode, The Door which had a huge climax involving the White Walkers and the huge army of the dead. In this video we find out how the crew painstakingly made sure that the scenes were shot perfectly and portrayed what they had in mind. There was a heavy use of CGI and some creative methods were used, which included using light panels on the ground, which lit up to create the effect of the explosions.
We also see how it took hours to get the makeup ready for the actors who were playing the Children of the Forest and the White Walkers. The segment focuses on the cave scene from the 5th episode, The Door. For the 6th episode we are shown how the first scene which involved Benjen Stark killing the Wights was shot and also Bran Stark’s visions, which include the Mad King.
The video ends with Daenerys and we see Emilia Clarke sitting on a green mechanical bull while shooting the scenes involving Drogon. It’s wonderful to see how CGI and special effects are used to bring to life the amazing Dragons. Take a look at the video below.
