Game of Thrones Season 8 is currently filming, and the wait is on. After a long wait, fans got to watch Season 7, and many seem to be disappointed. It was acceptable as a season, considering it was supposed to set up the end of the show, but the wait and the hype probably ruined it for some.
The same thing is likely to happen with some fans for Season 8, considering the show doesn’t return for the end till 2019, and that’s a lot of waiting to be had. In addition to that, the season will have to tie up all lose ends, and do it well, so the pressure on the production is is immense. Liam Cunningham, who plays the role of Ser Davos Seaworth, recently spoke about this exact same pressure in an interview with RTE. Read on!
Speaking about being among the select few to make it to the end, Liam said :
“I am yeah, well my ambition was to make it to the last season and now I’m in the last season my ambition is to make it to the last episode, typical selfish actor.”
He then spoke about how the pressure was on, to ensure fans get the best out of the end of the show :
“The pressure we put on ourselves to try and get it as good as we possibly can… Because it’s not one person who is the lead in this, who’s carrying the whole thing, it’s an ensemble piece.”
He continued :
“We’re all fans of the show, for several years some actors only read their own bits so they could enjoy the show when they went home, they were that much fans of the show! So to be coming to the end, it’s going to be really weird, it’s the longest thing I’ve ever done in my life, for seven years, so it is kind of weird.”
One of the most important deaths of Season 7 was Littlefinger, played by Aiden Gillen. Speaking of saying goodbyes to actors like him, Cunningham said :
“It’s very difficult yeah, because it’s been a bit of a family and we all feel like we’re on this bizarre rollercoaster, so when somebody hops off it’s difficult.
I’ve worked with Aidan for the last 20 odd years on stage and screen so it was sad to see him go, but at the end of this season we’re all gone, so it’s going to be fun.”
Well, we bet it will be. What do you think? Excited for Season 8 yet? We sure are! Talk to us in the comments, down below!
