We saw a big Stark reunion in the previous Game of Thrones episode and everyone was happy to see 3 Starks together after a really long time. However, things are not going as well as expected as Bran has completely turned into a stranger who has no emotions and is hardly concerned about his family. He is only focused about the White Walkers. On the other hand, Arya has become an assassin and she doesn’t seem to trust anyone, not even her sister.
In the latest episode, “Eastwatch” we saw the relationship between Arya and Sansa worsening as Arya confronted Sansa for saying nothing when the Northern lords were insulting Jon Snow in his absence and Sansa tried to explain her stance but Arya wasn’t in a mood to listen to Sansa. She told Sansa that she knew that Sansa was hoping that Jon never returned to Winterfell, so that she could take control of the North.
This made Sansa really uncomfortable and it has shown us that the relationship between the sisters hasn’t changed over the years. Even in the first season, they didn’t get along with each other but it seemed that after all these years, things would change, but sadly that hasn’t happened.
Arya then made sure that she kept a watch over Littlefinger to see what he was up to and she found out that he had asked Maester Wolkan to find a scroll for him and then hid it in his room and left. Arya searched the entire room and she finally managed to locate the scroll and she quietly left the room and then we realized that Littlefinger was hiding nearby and he had done all this so that Arya could find the scroll. For those who are wondering what the scroll was about, take a look at the message below:
“Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark.”
In the first season, after Ned Stark was taken as a hostage, Cersei had urged Sansa to write a letter to Robb Stark telling her that Ned’s fate depended on Robb Stark’s response to the letter that she would send.
When the scroll reached Winterfell, Maester Luwin was able to see through it and he told Robb, “It’s your sister’s hand but the Queen’s words.” Sadly, Arya has no idea about any of this and she is going to think that it was Sansa who had called her father a traitor and took Joffrey’s side.
Littlefinger is a master when it comes to playing the Game of Thrones and he must’ve realized that there’s a possibility of poisoning Arya and Sansa’s minds and creating chaos as we know very well that Baelish likes to create chaos and then benefit from it.
Littlefinger might use Arya to create a rift between both the sisters, as now Arya has seen the letter in which Sansa has urged Robb to come to King’s Landing and bend the knee in front of Joffrey, who was the first person on her list.
The trailer for the next episode shows us that the situation between both of them worsens and we will find out in the next episode whether Littlefinger is successful in isolating Sansa from her family.
