We first witnessed the gooey attraction that Tormund has for Brienne back in season 6 of Game of Thrones and we simply loved watching the scenes. One season later, Tormund is still trying to impress Brienne but it seems he won’t get lucky anytime soon.
Kristofer Hivju, the actor who plays Tormund Giantsbane spoke with HBO Nordic about Tormund’s attraction towards Brienne and his true love. He revealed that Tormund’s heart beats for someone, but it’s not Brienne and definitely not a human.
During the interview, Hivju spoke about Tormund’s fantasies about Sheila the Bear. For those who don’t know Shiela, she is a bear who Tormund says he was in love with. Her reference was made in previous seasons of Game of Thrones and Ygritte didn’t believe in his story. Take a look at the scene below:
Hivju denies any potential relationship developing between his character and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) any time soon. Although he does mention that given the human domain, his first preference will definitely be Brienne.
“When we shot “Hardhome” I asked creators David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], ‘Where’s Tormund’s family? Where are his kids?’ And they said, ‘He’s a bachelor, he has women everywhere, but there is only one woman for Tormund and that is Sheila. He really loves Sheila…If you had to include humans, of course Brienne is the first choice,” says the Norwegian actor.
When asked about his preferable choice for honeymoon, his answer was the cave where Jon and ygritte had their moment.
