The Game of Thrones fandom is full of exciting, crazy and some downright weird fan theories. However, as the Season 7 premiere date approaches, it seems like one particular theory is standing out, above all others. As you might remember, the theory in question is about how Cersei Lannister, who now holds the Iron Throne, will die, and it says says it will be her twin/lover, Jaime Lannister, who will be the one to kill her off. Now, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays the role of Jaime Lannister on the show, recently commented on this theory, yet another time. Read on!
As we have previously reported, Nikolaj has commented on this theory a few times, like this one, and this one. However, the good folks over at Mashable seem to be hell bent on making him spoil the big moment. In a recent interview, Nikolaj talked more about it, and he seems to have been thinking a lot over it. He said :
“I mean I don’t think he — I’m just saying it’s a valid theory. I can see it makes sense, it has a beautiful — it’s a nice circle [that] they are born together in the womb and then he kills her at the end…It makes sense.”
He went on to talk about how Jaime killing the Mad King could be seen as a pointer to him killing Cersei :
“You could say that, could — that the motivation for doing that would be the same for killing Cersei, but I haven’t seen anything yet before Season 7 that would make me believe that he was capable of doing that.”
So we know for sure that Season 7 has a Jaime/Cersei moment that does reinforce this theory, but from what Nikolaj says, it seems like Cersei might just not die in Season 7, and definitely not at Jaime’s hands. He was asked for more details on it, but alas, he probably realized he could be giving away something really huge if he kept talking. Nikolaj said :
“I don’t know. Well, I do, but you’ll have to watch the show.”
Well, we will be waiting for more Nikolaj Coster-Waldau interviews on this topic, but it seems like he may have hit the end of what he can reveal without spoiling Season 7, before it premieres July 16th. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
